Rev. Millspaugh and RockTenn nominated for state award
COLUMBUS – Ohio United Way celebrated the organization’s 100th anniversary at the Annual Meeting, Wednesday, April 10, at 11:30 a.m. at the Capital Club in Columbus.
Ohio United Way used the Annual Legislative Luncheon to celebrate 100 Years – 100 Heroes, a recognition of the many individuals from across the state who have improved lives in their communities through service to their local United Way and/or the state organization. Honorees were nominated by local United Ways and Ohio United Way.
Ohio United Way’s Board Chair, Attorney Clair Dickinson, said, “Ohio United Way is thrilled to be using the occasion of its anniversary to honor people who have made its work possible: individuals from across Ohio who have given selflessly to make a positive difference in their communities.”
Locally, United Way of Coshocton nominated both Rev. Bob Millspaugh and RockTenn because of their tremendous show of support for the United Way here in Coshocton. Steve Miller, United Way Treasurer, Rev. Bob Millspaugh, Winnie Ellis, United Way board member and RockTenn employee and Gwen Miller of RockTenn all attended the luncheon.
When Rev. Bob moved into Coshocton, he immediately became involved with the United Way in a leadership capacity. For the past 30 plus years, he has served in many ways including President for many years. He has also been a loyal supporter always giving generously. Rev. Bob has also been willing to be a voice for the United Way on the radio or in the media. He believes passionately in the power of the multiplied dollar and has high expectations for his fellow givers. Rev. Bob inspires all of us to give from the heart as he leads by example.
Industries in Coshocton Ohio have taken a large hit by the economy and employers are hard pressed to maintain their employees, but RockTenn has continued to stay deeply immersed and supportive of Coshocton. Since 1863, they have had a presence in Coshocton, gainfully employing thousands of Coshoctonians over the years.
As avid United Way supporters, over the last 20 years, RockTenn employees and corporate gifts amount to almost a million dollars, with 10 out of the last 11 years having been our top giver. RockTenn’s support has been the rock for Coshocton and the United Way!
