Richard (Dick) Wright

Richard (Dick) Wright, age 87, of Wills Creek, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at his home. He was born in Coshocton on February 13, 1936, to the late William Perry and Lillian (Kleinnacht) Wright.

On February 18, 1958, he married the love of his life, Judith (Lahna) Wright who survives. Together they raised seven children, Jackie (Kevin) Ruby of Coshocton, Tom (Bonnie) Wright of Wills Creek, Greg Wright of Coshocton, Don (Becky) Wright of Coshocton, Mike (Donna) Wright of Warsaw, Mark (Jenn) Wright of Kentucky and Todd (Amanda) Wright of Wills Creek.

Richard is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren with another on the way; two brother-in-laws, John (Ailcey) Lahna and Ronnie (Ruth) Lahna; two sister-in-laws, Linda (Francis) Cognion and Marge (Larry) Wise; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby, Gerald and Bill; three sisters, June, Betty and Peggy; two grandsons, Evan Wright and David Kiser; one granddaughter, Chasity Wright; one daughter-in-law, Donna Wright, and his stepfather, Al Purdy.

Richard was a Catholic by faith. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coshocton where he also attend school and graduated in 1953.  He was a member of the Ohio National Guard, Recon Division and worked at Stone Container until his retirement in 1998.  For many years, he officiated baseball and basketball games. He was an avid Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and an Ohio State fan and Richard’s favorite pastime was sitting on his front porch with his dog, waving at everyone who went by.

Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Thomas Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Richard’s name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 805 Main St., Coshocton, Ohio 43812 or to Interim Hospice of Coshocton, 450 N. 3rd St., Coshocton, Ohio 43812.
