River View Community Park Social to look different this year

| July 29, 2020

The River View Community Park Social will look different this year, but it will still go on from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2.

The barbecued chicken prepared by the Walhonding Valley Firefighters will be served drive-thru style. The $10 pre-packaged meals will include a barbecued chicken half, side of homemade noodles (made by Nellie United Methodist Church), side of baked beans, and a roll. The line for pick up starts at the River View Community Park sign.

When picking up your meal you can add a plastic duck for $5 for the virtual version of the Beaver Run Duck Race. The race will take place at a later time, but it will be streamed live on the park’s Facebook page. Winners will be announced and posted at the conclusion of the Race.

The weekend also will feature The Rollie Darr Memorial Baseball Tournament with social distancing in place at the baseball fields.
