RV girls finish third at 2024 SEOSL Championship Meet

River View swimmers took part in the 2024 South Eastern Ohio Swim League Championship Meet at Ohio University on Feb. 3. The girls placed third overall out of 10 schools, while the boys placed sixth out of 12, with Athens and Tri-Valley placing first and second respectively in both competitions.

Medaling in events for the girls’ team were the 200-medley relay group of Ally Fischer, Lily Grewell, Riley Gottardi, and Kam McGinnis, third (2:10.22); and Gottardi, third (1:11.20) in the 100 backstroke. Also scoring points were Fischer, fourth (2:35.72) and Grewell, fifth (2:38.99) in the 200 individual medley; Gottardi, fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:09.46); Hammond, eighth (1:07.60) and McGinnis, 10th (1:09.51) in the 100 freestyle; Ava Lewis, ninth (6:47.92) in the 500 free; Fischer, fifth (1:12.12) in the 100 backstroke; Grewell, sixth (1:20.22) and Kynsingten McMasters, eighth (1:26.93) in the 100 breaststroke; the 200 free relay of Hammond, Chloee Adams, McMasters, and McGinnis, seventh (2:03.81); and the 400 free relay of Gottardi, Hammond, Grewell, and Fischer, fourth (4:20.73).

Earning medalists’ honors for the boys was Colin Addy, second in both the 200 free (1:57.18) and the 100 Fly (56.19). Additional scoring for the Black Bears came from Jamison Adams, fourth in both the 100 free (57.06) and the 100 back (1:03.36); Jerrett Allison, 10th (6:46.16) in the 500 free; the 200 free relay of Adams, Dustin Gregory, Allison, and Addy, sixth (1:48.36); and the 400 free relay of Addy, Kyle Roach, Allison, and Adams, fifth (4:02.66). The Bears will swim in the Sectional Tournament at Steubenville on Saturday, Feb. 10.
