RVHS finishes third at ECOL Championship

COSHOCTON – River View swimming competed in the East Central Ohio League Championship Meet at Janet Jones Mulligan Natatorium on Jan, 25. Both the girls and boys finished in third place behind New Philadelphia and winner, Dover.

The Black Bears were led in scoring by Lindsey Ashcraft for the girls’ team, and Cole Tatro for the boys’ team. Ashcraft was second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:26.07) and fourth in the 200 Individual Medley (2:47.61), while Tatro placed third in the 100 Butterfly (1:11.48), and fourth in the 200 IM (2:40.45).

The girls placed in the top six in seven additional events. The relay group of Carolyn Cox, Lindsey Ashcraft, Josie Fornara, and Kyara Roberts was second in the 200 Medley (2:20.10), and third in the 200 Free (2:08.37), and the relay group of Katie Hardesty, Paige Shroyer, Michaela White, and Josie Fornara was fourth in the 400 Free (5:08.84).

Individually, Cox was third in the 100 Backstroke (1:16.31), and fifth in the 100 Freestyle (1:08.40), Fornara was fifth in the 100 Fly (1:23.04), and Aliya Stevens was sixth in the 100 Breast (1:38.13).

The boys’ team had 10 additional events in which they placed in the top six. The 200 Medley Relay of Brady Philabaum, Brayden Karr, Cole Tatro, and JT Roberts was third (2:08.34), the 200 Free Relay of Coen Bible, Karr, Roberts, and Reas pepper was third (1:52.63), and the 400 Free Relay of Bible, Philabaum, Tatro, and pepper was also third (4:15.31).

Individually, Philabaum was second in the 100 Back (1:08.88), Pepper was third in the 50 Free (27.15) and fifth in the 200 Free (2:20.39), Luke Massie was fifth in the 100 Back (1:15.72), Roberts was sixth in both the 50 Free (27.75), and the 100 Back (1:15.83), and Bible was sixth in the 100 Free (1:04.17).
