RVHS takes third at their home swimming invitational

COSHOCTON – River View Swimming hosted 18 schools at its invite at the Janet Jones Mulligan Natatorium on Saturday, Jan. 21. Both the boys and girls placed third overall.

Medalists for the girls team include Lindsey Ashcraft, third in the 200 Individual Medley (2:48.97), and in the 100 Breaststroke (1:24.33), Shawna Shroyer, third in the 100 Backstroke (1:24.23), the 200 Medley Relay of Shroyer, Ashcraft, Josie Fornara, and Jesse Vandenbark, second (2:26.64), and the 200 Freestyle Relay of Ashcraft, Fornara, Vandenbark, and Shroyer, third (2:06.57).

For the boys, Nate Cooper was third in the IM (2:38.53), and second in the 100 Back (1:06.63), Caleb Fischer was second in the 100 Breast (1:14.79), the Medley Relay of Cooper, Fischer, Jake Mitchell, and RJ Hammond was second (2:00.28), and they were also second in the 200 Free Relay (1:46.83), missing the school record by one hundredth of a second.

Also placing in the top six in individual events were Shroyer, sixth in the IM (3:01.07), Mitchell, fourth in the Fly (1:08.83) and fifth in the 50 Free (27.01), and Fischer, sixth in the Fly (1:11.76).

The Black Bears next meet will be their final home meet of the year, and Senior Night, on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m.
