Coshocton

CHS volleyball team falls to Ridgewood

Saturday afternoon, Sept. 25 in West Lafayette, the Coshocton Redskins volleyball team fell in a non-league match against the Ridgewood Generals. Scores were: 17-25, 17-25, and 20-25.

Leaders for Coshocton were Jalynn West with 17 assists, Miyah Davis with 18 digs and 2 ace serves. Hailey Helter led the offense with five kills, while Lindsey Bryant and Kenidi Jackson each had four.

Ridgewood was led by: Hannah Maust – 17 kills, 14 digs, three blocks, three points, and three aces; Ella Matusik – 25 assists, six digs, two blocks, two kills, seven points, and four aces; Karissa Gress – three kills, six blocks, four points, and five aces; Kaelynn Robinson – 11 digs, five kills, two blocks, two points, and two aces; Kadin Belt – seven digs, six points, and three aces; Kaiedence Smith – four digs, three points, one ace; Kya Masloski – four blocks and one assist; Kelley Masloski – three assists and one block; and Graci Armstrong – three digs.

In the junior varsity match, it was Coshocton winning in straight sets by the scores of: 25-22, 25-18.

Jillian Given had 17 assists for the Redskins, setting up kills leaders Lacey Guthrie and Maggie Laaper who had four and three kills respectively. Laaper also added seven digs.

In the other sub-varsity match, it was Coshocton claiming a two sets to none victory.

Sophia McFadden and Maggie Laaper had six kills each. Jillian Urban collected 17 assists.

River View

 Gress records a 33 for River View

River View’s junior high golf team competed on Sept. 27 against St. Clairsville, Linsly, and Barnesville. Team scores were: River View – 153; St. Clairsville – 182; Barnesville – 200; and Linsly – 258.

River View was led by: Gavin Gress, 33 (match medalist); Colton Gress, 38; Brynn Harstine, 39; Taylor Harstine, 43; and Caleb Kline, 47.

The team also came in first at the middle school tournament with a team score of 263. Individual scores were: Colton Gress, 57; Gavin Gress, 58; Brynn Harstine, 73; Clark Frischen, 75; Caleb Kline, 77; and Taylor Harstine, 77.

Eastern District Open held

River View golfers competed at the Eastern District Open and recorded a team score of 419.

Individual scores were: Thad Cox, 95; Paige Nicely, 102; Josh Woolard, 111; and Caily Shriver, 111.

The Black Bear golfers also played in the Muskingum Valley League Postseason Tournament with Coshocton.

River View’s individual scores were: Thad Cox, 97 and Josh Woolard, 111. Coshocton’s were: Gavin Mathias, 106; Carter Summers, 110; and Coby Moore, 116.

Lady Bears golf at postseason tournament

The River View Lady Bears golf team played in the MVL Postseason Tournament on Sept. 24.

River View was led by: Paige Nicely, 87 (sixth overall, top 10 medal); Caily Shriver, 97; Chloey Geog, 106; Kiera McPeck, 122; Hollee Sheneman, 126. As a team they were third with a score of 412.
