Students recognized for achievements at competitions

COSHOCTON – The Coshocton County Career Center would like to recognize the following students for their achievements during recent local and regional competitions. Student organizations spend time preparing for and competing in competitions related to their technical studies.

On Feb. 16, seniors Kenny Lott and Karen Woodby from the culinary arts program competed in and were awarded silver medals at the FCCLA Culinary Preliminary (regionals) Event Competition for Region 2 held at Stark State College. Woodby made a carrot cake in the creative cake category while Lott competed in the Garde Manger (study of cold food) category. Lott also created a dessert sushi, a California roll, and a cucumber cup filled with a salad. Lott will advance to the FCCLA State Culinary competition.

On Saturday, March 10, students from the early childhood education class competed in the FCCLA regional career development skill events at the Buckeye Career Center.

Juniors: Samantha Burris earned a gold medal in the Language and Literary Event with a score of 97 percent. Carlie Williams earned a gold medal in the Teacher Specific Task Assessment Kit with a score of 96.5 percent. Keirstan Hall earned a gold medal in Curriculum Unit Development Event with a score of 98.5 percent. Senior: Liz Lintz earned a gold medal in Curriculum Unit Development Event with a score of 96 percent. All four girls have advanced to the FCCLA State Competition.

In the SkillsUSA student organization, the following students have advanced and will be competing at the SkillsUSA Ohio State Competition on April 24 – 25 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

Criminal Justice: Bruce Collins- Gold Medal at the regional level (Criminal Justice) Electronics: Travis D. Jackson – Bronze Medal at the regional level (Related Technical Math)

Electronics: Nathaniel Jacops and Gage Kohl (Mobile Robotics) Electronics: Will Noble (Electronics Technology)

Construction Technology: Jacob George (Cabinet Making)
