Swimmers compete at Holiday Relays

ZANESVILLE – The River View and Coshocton swim teams competed in the 2019 Holiday Relays hosted by Tri Valley at the Muskingum County YMCA on Dec. 21. The Black Bears placed first out of 11 schools in combined team scores. The girls were tied for first with Marietta and Canal Winchester, and the boys were second.

The Redskins placed seventh in combined scores, and also in girls and boys team scores.

In mixed events, the Bears won the 200 Backstroke with Brady Philabaum, Coen Bible, Luke Massie, and Berta Vidal (1:59.36), the 200 Freestyle with Brice Cross, Cole Tatro, Ahmed Perez, and Michaela White (1:51.22), the 200 Breaststroke with Lindsey Ashcraft, Gavin Donnell, Reas Pepper, and Brayden Karr (2:20.12), and the 400 Free with Jonathon Vu, Michaela White, Ahmed Perez, and JT Roberts (4:23.04), and placed second in the 200 Medley with Raychel Smalley, Nathaniel Stamper, Zachariah Phillips, and Coen Bible (2:10.36), and in the 200 Butterfly with Cole Tatro, Brayden Karr, Reas Pepper, and Berta Vidal (1:53.41).

In the girls relays, Berta Vidal, Aliya Stevens, Lindsey Ashcraft, and Rachel Vandenbark were second in the 200 Medley (2:09.90), Ashcraft, Raychel Smalley, Vandenbark, and Vidal were second in the 200 Free (1:58.40), Michaela White, MaryAnn Lozowski, Katie Hardesty, and Ashcraft were third in the 200 Fly (2:24.96), Vandenbark, White, Hardesty, and Stevens were third in the 200 Breast (2:49.38), and Lozowski, Bianca Roberson, Smalley, and Hardesty were third in the 400 Free (4:57.74).

In the boys relays, Coen Bible, Brayden Karr, JT Roberts, and Reas Pepper won the 200 Free (1:40.69), and Bible, Cole Tatro, Brady Philabaum, and Pepper won the 400 Free (3:49.62), Philabaum, Karr, Tatro, and Roberts were second in the 200 Medley (1:55.82), Ahmed Perez, Roberts, Zachariah Phillips, and Lincoln Shroyer were second in the 200 Back (2:06.68), and Andrew Martin, Brice Cross, Luke Massie, and Malek Better were third in the 400 Free (4:09.14).
