Tank’s Meats Inc. issues a voluntary recall

ELMORE – Tank’s Meats Inc., of Elmore, OH announces a voluntary recall of approximately 849 pounds of Tank’s Coney Sauce, approximately 423 pounds of Hot Beef Jerky and Tank’s Original Beef Jerky, and several Chili Bob’s spice products due to undeclared allergens. The Coney Sauce product contains soy, a known allergen which is not declared on the product label. The Beef Jerky and Chili Bob’s spice products contain soy and wheat, known allergens which are not declared on the product labels.
The products subject to recall include:

  • Tank’s Coney Sauce, produced prior to Aug. 14, 2014
    • Hot Beef Jerky Chopped and Formed and Tank’s Original Beef Jerky Chopped and Formed produced prior to Aug. 14, 2014
    • Garlic lovers (5oz shaker), produced prior to Feb. 1, 2015
    • Black and Blue Butt Rub (5oz shaker), produced prior to Feb. 1, 2015
    • Onion Lovers (4.5oz shaker), produced prior to Feb. 1, 2015
    • Island Fever (4oz shaker), produced prior to Feb. 1, 2015

The Tank’s Coney Sauce and Hot Beef Jerky products bear the establishment number EST. 76 inside the Ohio mark of inspection. These products, as well as the spice rub products, were sold through the company’s retail market in Elmore and were also wholesaled to markets throughout Ohio.

Consumers who are allergic to soy or wheat may run the risk of allergic reactions if they consume these products.

Tank’s Meats urges its customers who have purchased these products not to eat them and to return them to the company. Customers may bring those designated products to Tank’s Meats Inc. at 3351 State Route 51, Elmore, Ohio or call the facility at (419) 862-3312.
