Updates made to airport runway

| October 22, 2014

Runway2COSHOCTON – The Richard Downing Airport recently added about 2 1/4 inches of new asphalt.  The runway resurfacing usually lasts around 15 years. This also increases the load bearing capacity of the runway, which enables heavier aircrafts to land at the airport. Since the runway has been lengthened to 5,000 feet, the airport has had 50 jets, not including King Air’s to land at the airport and receive services at the airport. The overlay was done by the airport receiving a FAA Grant from the Federal Aviation Administration with 10 percent matching funds. The overlay is being nominated for an award by the Shelly Company. This picture of the runway was taken by Bethel Toler, airport administrator, while Dr. Jerold Meyer, airport board president, was flying.
