Vergie Cornelius

Vergie Cornelius, 91, of Coshocton went to be with her Lord and Saviour at 11:14 A.M. Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Genesis, Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio.

Born October 19, 1921 in Alva, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Louisa (Tipton) Roark.

A 1939 graduate of Black Star High School in Kentucky, she married Bud Cornelius on April 27, 1940.

Known as one of the prayer warriers at the Coshocton Baptist Church of which she had been a long time member, her loving personality will be missed by all her family members and friends.  Vergie loved to cook and her priority was to be sure everyone had plenty to eat.

Surviving are two sons Henry Clinton (Joyce) Cornelius of Zanesville, Ancil Thomas “Tom” (Judy) Cornelius of Coshocton; two grandchildren Gregory Cornelius of Toledo, Mark (Shandi) Cornelius of Baltimore, OH, four great-grandchildren Keely, Andrew, Allie, Logan Cornelius;  two step-great grandsons; three brothers Layton (Kathleen) Roark of Coshocton, Henry Roark, Jr. of Hamilton, OH, Virgil (Arizona) Roark of Dayton; special brother-in-law Bob Hurst of Dayton; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Vergie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud who passed May 24, 1972, a brother Earl Roark, four sisters Nellie Barber, Mary Roark, Flora Roark, Essie Hurst, and a step grandson Allan Loos.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Free Funeral Home, Coshocton with Pastor Paul Schwab officiating.  Interment will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.

Calling hours will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 14, 2013 prior to the celebration.

Memoriums in memory of Vergie may be made to the Coshocton Baptist Church, 1631 Denman Ave., Coshocton, OH  43812.  Envelopes are available at the Free Funeral Home.
