19-year-old killed in US 36 accident

COSHOCTON – On March 1 at 11:52 p.m. the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls in reference to an accident on US Rt 36 near Lafayette Twp Rd 509. Upon arrival of emergency personnel it was found that a vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane and caused a collision.

Michael D. Hamilton, 49, of Fresno was operating his 2008 Ford truck in the wrong direction and struck a 2005 Buick operated by Destiny L. Stull, 19, of Coshocton. Stull suffered severe injuries as a result of the accident and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Coshocton County Coroner Dr. Robert Gwinn.

Hamilton was trapped in his vehicle and after being extricated by West Lafayette Fire Dept. he was transported to Coshocton Regional Medical Center. Once at CRMC, Hamilton was flown to Grant Medical Center by MedFlight. Hamilton’s condition is not known at this time. Alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors in this accident.

Assisting at the scene was the West Lafayette Police Dept., West Lafayette Fire Dept., Three Rivers Fire Dept., Coshocton County EMS, REACT, and Prince’s Wrecker Service.

This incident remains under investigation at this time.
