56th annual social to be held at River View Community Park

The 56th annual park social and chicken BBQ will be held Friday through Sunday, Aug. 5-7 at the River View Community Park in Warsaw. Food, fun and fellowship activities are planned for the weekend. Here are some updates on activities from the July 28 article that ran in The Beacon.

On Friday, Aug. 5, Bingo will be offered at the large shelter from 6-9 p.m., while the community pool party will be open from 8 – 10 p.m. with a $5 admission charge.

A “dive-in” movie will be held at the pool on Saturday, Aug. 6. A family friendly movie will be shown and there is a $5 admission charge.

The main events of the weekend will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7. Starting at 11:30 a.m., the Walhonding Valley Firefighters will cook barbecue chicken and the park board will sell meals. The meals include ice cream (desserts sold separately), half a chicken and two sides.

From 1-2 p.m. the Walhonding Rube Band will be performing near the large shelter. At 2 p.m. there will be a coin toss in the community pool. Children can dive for money.

Post time for the Beaver Run Duck Race is at 3:30 p.m. Purchase plastic ducks for a donation and watch the fun as the ducks race down the creek. The first duck to cross the finish line wins. Winners of the duck race and of the 50/50 drawing will be announced after the race.
