Minister hired at Warsaw First Presbyterian Church

WARSAW – The Rev. Matt Skolnik has been employed as a permanent part-time pastor at the Warsaw First Presbyterian Church.

He has been a Presbyterian Minister of the Word since 2007. He holds a Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts in secondary education from West Virginia Wesleyan University.

In addition to serving in Ohio and Pennsylvania churches, he has spent the past several years building relationships in the Middle East where he has trained Christian pastors, worked with youth, served war refugees, participated in peace building ministries, encouraged missionaries, and has been inspired by the church in these turbulent lands. As a part of his ministries, he also teaches mathematics at Mount Union University in Alliance.

Skolnik was born in 1978 in Pittsburgh and raised in Allegheny County where he graduated from Deer Lakes High School. During high school he served as class vice-president and was active in the National Honor Society, band, volleyball and basketball.

Skolnik and his wife, Vanessa, of 13 years reside in North Canton. They have two young children, Ava and Nathan. In their leisure time, the family enjoys camping, kayaking, hiking and fishing.
