William Noah “Bill” Laird

Laird, WilliamWilliam Noah “Bill” Laird, 90, of Nashport and formerly of Coshocton and Zanesville, passed away, Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Autumn Extended Care Facility in Coshocton.

Born June 19, 1923 in Coshocton, he was the son of the late Alexander and Sarah Ilda (Hoffman) Laird.

A 1941 graduate of Coshocton High School, Bill had been an outstanding pressman for the Beach Company, Novelty Advertising and the Coshocton Tribune while being printed in Coshocton and transferring to Zanesville when the Tribune was printed in Zanesville. His knowledge of the presses kept him working until age 69.

Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

On September 13, 1947 he married Betty Jean Ralph and the couple celebrated 66 anniversaries together. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters Diana (Robert) Hunt, Linda (Dennis) Wyrick all of Coshocton and a son William “Billy” Laird of Mt. Vernon. Among the grandchildren are Tracy (Scott) Parks, Michael (Janay) Hunt, Brandi Matson, Jennifer Smith, Joshua (Nichole) Laird, many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was the last of a family of ten siblings Elnora Miskimens, Ilda Regula, Elizabeth Lee, Janet Cochran, John T. Laird, Thomas H. “Tommy” Laird, James R. “Jim” Laird, Robert “Bob” Laird and Alexander “Alex” Laird. Also two sons Richard Neil Laird and Robert A. Laird preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, November 29, 2013 with Rev. Robert Millspaugh officiating. Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 10 A.M. to Noon Friday prior to the funeral service all at the Free Funeral Home in Coshocton.
