Yorland ‘Kay’ Hardesty

Yorland “Kay” Hardesty, 87, of Coshocton, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Altercare of Coshocton. She was born on May 29, 1933 to the late Pearl Frame. On Feb. 11, 1955, she married Stanley E. Hardesty who passed away in January 2021.

Kay was a member of Burt Avenue Wesleyan Church. She graduated from West Virginia University in 1955 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. She furthered her education at Muskingum University and obtained her degree in Elementary Education. She taught as an elementary teacher at Keene and Conesville Elementary. Kay continued her love of education in her faithfulness of Our Lord and Savior. She had a passion for missions and the biblical education of children and most recently led the senior adult Sunday school class.

Kay is survived by her children, Diane Johnson of Streetsboro, Randy (Dixie) Hardesty of Hebron, Shelly Hardesty of Coshocton, Renee (Mark) Appis of Coshocton, and Michael Hardesty of Coshocton; grandchildren, Tracey Johnson, Shane (Catherine Carrier) Hardesty, Ryan (Leah Neimeister) Appis, and Kelsee (Corey) Saylor; and great-granddaughter, Kammi Saylor.

Along with her mother and husband, she is preceded in death by a special aunt, Sarah Jucovich.

A public graveside services will be held for friends and family on Friday, April 23 at 3 p.m. at South Lawn Cemetery in Coshocton with Pastor Rod Uhlig officiating. The Miller Funeral Home is serving the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be directed toward the Burt Avenue Wesleyan Church at 230 Burt Ave., Coshocton, Ohio and Community Hospice at 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
