Cross Builders excited for new location

| June 18, 2020
Twenty years ago Bill Dunfee and Tim Eberhard joined forces to create Cross Improvements, a general contracting company known for its work in Coshocton and other nearby counties. Today they are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a new office location and being rebranded as Cross Builders.
In January the business partners purchased the former Rent-All building at 22470 County Road 1A. Since then they’ve been busy renovating and relocating equipment.
“We had other shops, but they were garages behind rentals, and we’d have to go to one building and then another to get what we needed,” Eberhard said. “This location is good advertising for us and gives us a place to park all our equipment and get stuff organized.”
There are six construction employees including Dunfee and Eberhard, and they can pretty much handle any type of project.
“We do a lot of new construction, home additions, and kitchens and bathrooms,” Eberhard said.
Dunfee said they also are known for their custom home floor plans. “If you have ideas and bring us pictures, we can put it together for you,” Eberhard said.
Dunfee agreed. “We will take it from the drawing to the end, but we also don’t lose sight of the smaller home-improvement projects,” he said.
Both enjoy the customer-satisfaction aspect of their job and getting to do something different every day.
“It’s not the same job all the time, and we get to travel some,” Eberhard said.
They also get to work in a good environment with like-minded people.
“Twenty years ago when we started the company and were thinking of the name, we knew the cross and Christ changed our lives, and we wanted to foster a positive change for others, so we came up with Cross Improvements,” Dunfee said. “It’s also a jump-start for spiritual conversations and about the principles, ethics and standards we bring to the job site.”
Other than the name, Dunfee and Eberhard aren’t making any changes to the company, but they do believe the new building will be a big help. “I think it will help us be more efficient and get things done quicker,” Eberhard said.
Dunfee said they also will work on creating a showroom to help assist customers with their projects. “It’s a real blessing for us to get this building,” he said. “It will really help us go to the next level in many ways.”

“We are a family-based company with the next generation coming up behind us,” Dunfee said.
