John M. Mizer Jr.

John M. Mizer Jr., 70, of West Lafayette passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 at Summa Akron City Hospital. He was born in Dover, Ohio on Jan. 1, 1950 to the late John “Mike” Mizer Sr. and Betty (Neading) Mizer.

John graduated from Ridgewood High School and worked as a mechanic at Bakersville Garage and was a Township Trustee for Bucks Township. He was a member of the Salem Evans Church in Bakersville. He loved riding and working on tractors and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Maggie” (Toland) Mizer, who he married Dec. 27, 1969; daughters, Marty (Richard) Pfeister II, Michelle (Dave) Foster, and Melissa (Shawn) Asbury; six grandchildren, Richy (Brittany) Pfeister III, Chelsea (Andy) Boyd, Michael (Jill) Foster, Dylan Foster, Breann (Jesse) Olinger, and Hope Asbury; two great-grandchildren, Richy IV and Emilee; brother, Daniel E. (Johanna) Mizer; sisters, Linda (Dave) Canfield and Norma (John) Brink; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents John is preceded in death by his brother, Paul Mizer.

Per John’s wishes a cremation will take place and burial of his cremated remains will take place at a later date in Salem Evans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be directed toward Salem Evans Creek Cemetery Fund. The Miller Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
