Local Bounty update

| December 31, 2015

We wish you a new year full of joy and happiness.  Come see us today, 10-4, closed tomorrow for New Year’s Day, open Sat. 9-1.

New Board Members

At our annual member meeting we elected two new members to our board. Verda McGraw as secretary and Born Sianjina as Local Bounty President. Terri Williams will also be serving as a new board member. As we grow, we want to thank our previous board members for their service, thank you!

Vendor Updates

Flying Pig Farm: This week we have Blueberry scones, Lavender scones and slider buns. The two bite buns are perfect for New Year’s party appetizers or small sandwiches. Ham balls are our favorite…bake mini balls with Keene Creek Farm hamloaf mix and glaze with our Red Pepper Jelly. Need a last minute hostess gift? We still have a few gift baskets packaged and ready to give!

Mullet Apiaries: Happy New Year, everyone! Well, the cold weather is finally here, and our girls have all gone back to the hive and are huddled up. But beekeepers are still busy. We have to do our books for the end of the year. We attend conferences to further our knowledge and share experiences. We build additional equipment and plan for our purchases in the spring; we clean our tools and we read, read, read to learn more. We are always happy to share what we know with anyone who asks – beekeepers are a pretty passionate group when it comes to beekeeping! There is still lots of golden honey available that goes great on biscuits or corn bread that we all love to eat with hot soup or stews on these cold days. Stop in to Local Bounty and get some. Thanks, as always, for your patronage.

Strawberry Hill Farm: Happy New Year to all of you! Your New Year’s resolution may include eating more healthy foods. Thanks to the unseasonably warm weather the past two weeks, we still have a good supply of kale, which is an excellent source of nutrients in the wintertime. We’ve also stocked more eggs from our free-range hens on pasture. They’re still laying, although production is slowing down. We’re starting to get eggs from our young hens, however, so the supply will continue!
