Man arrested after fatal accident

COSHOCTON – On Saturday, June 10 at 5:57 p.m. the sheriff’s office received a 911 call in reference to a roll over accident on Coshocton County Road 106. Upon arrival it was discovered that Richard Kozlowski, 23-years-old, from North Canton, was operating a Polaris UTV. He was traveling west bound on Coshocton County Road 106 when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle overturned and a passenger was ejected.

The passenger was unresponsive at the scene. He was treated by Coshocton County EMS, but was later pronounced deceased due to his injuries. The victim’s name is being withheld until family is notified.

After investigation, it was believed that Mr. Kozlowski had been drinking and was believed to be over the legal limit. He was arrested and taken to the sheriff’s office for further testing where he was found to be over the legal limit. Mr. Kozlowski is being held without bond for aggravated vehicle homicide. The case is being filed at the Coshocton Municipal Court.

Assisting with the investigation were Coshocton County EMS, West Lafayette Volunteer Fire Department, MedFlight, Prince’s Wrecker Service and the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office. Investigation is ongoing by your Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.
