Roscoe Garden Elves looking for help

| May 28, 2025
The Buckeye Garden in Roscoe Village was one of the first gardens that Mrs. Montgomery developed towards the end of the restoration of Roscoe.  Mrs. Montgomery planned the Buckeye Garden as a three-tier garden with sets of four steps leading from the street level down to where the canal used to be. It was a showcase of many different perennials that were planted throughout Roscoe Village.
The Roscoe Garden Elves will be taking care of the beds to bring them back to their original beauty. Some annuals have been planted which will be used in the village’s Christmas decorations.  The Elves are meeting on Wednesdays from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Buckeye Garden. The next meeting will be Wednesday, June 11. This is a good opportunity to learn about gardening techniques, cutting and drying flowers for later use, and the different perennials planted in the garden.
If you are interested in helping with revitalizing the garden and helping to cut and dry flowers, contact Connie Miller at 740-502-9384. Be sure to let her know if you are interested so she can contact you if she cancels in case of rain.
This is not a glorious job. Be prepared to get a little dirty and maybe even take home some plants. Bring your garden tools.
