Local Bounty update

| November 26, 2014

Happy Thanksgiving LB shoppers! As you gather with friends and family this holiday season, give thanks to our local growers and bakers and craftmakers. Enjoy this time, as it is a lovely opportunity to look at all the good things you have in your life. Stop by and see us TODAY we are open for you!  10-6, Friday 10-6 and Saturday 9-1.

Did you know?
Turkey has become the traditional Thanksgiving fare because at one time it was a rare treat. During the 1830s, an eight- to ten-pound bird cost a day’s wages. Even though turkeys are affordable today, they still remain a celebratory symbol of bounty. www.almanac.com

Hillbippie

Pull apart dinner rolls are so delicious and buttery, only four ingredients can you believe it! I will also have Focaccia, which fits nicely at your Thanksgiving table. My Christmas gift items will finally be at the store today. Do you have someone on your list that is hard to buy for or has “everything”? I bet they don’t have a hillbippie sippie jar, come check them out! I also have a new tea blend, Winter Chai, this contains black tea (caffeine), ginger root, cardamom pods and cinnamon. It is spicy and wonderfully comforting when winter’s cold knocks at the door.  Drink with sugar and cream for the full effect! Ginger is great in aiding in digestion, as well as mint. Prepare some Winter Chai or Mint Condition tea for your guests as an after dinner treat. Then steep some Reset Button and relax after all the work you’ve done. Have a great thanksgiving everyone and thank YOU for shopping LOCAL.

Flying Pig Farm

Sample our Roasted Pumpkin Bread and pick up a small loaf or two…it makes the perfect hostess gift! Sandwich buns are a must have for delicious leftover turkey sandwiches. We also have several affordable gift packages. Dry rub mixes and hickory chips pair well with any of the meats at Local Bounty. Bread Mix and Jam, Bread Mix and Soup or our Rice Mix Samplers are nourishing and will warm you up. A trio of jams comes packaged with serving suggestions on the tag. We hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Keene Creek Farm

Happy Thanksgiving. We are truly grateful every day that we have the opportunity to be a part of Local Bounty and to provide locally grown food to our ever-so-faithful customers. Thanks for appreciating what we do. Thanks for enjoying what we grow. And, thanks for supporting local producers like us. This week we made up some Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Fudge and this time, we added some cashews to make it extra special for the holidays. Samples will be at Local Bounty today – come early though, the samples usually don’t last long. We have also stocked our pork freezer to the best of our ability. There are a few packs of bacon left, and more will arrive in the weeks to come as we have six hogs headed to butcher over the next two weeks. We wish all of you a happy, food-filled Thanksgiving with those you hold closest.

Strawberry Hill Farm

Lots of kale from our wintry garden will be on the cooler shelves tomorrow. We’re also bringing pastured brown eggs and a few boxes of sweet potatoes. And here’s a special treat for the Thanksgiving holiday—Mary has made more of her buttery-sweet shortbread. Just right for sharing with friends and family. Have a warm and happy Thanksgiving!

Windy Hill Farm
Last week we introduced Blueberry Muffin Tops (because everybody knows the top of the muffin is the best part!). This week we’ve added Lemon Poppy Seed to the line-up. Muffin Tops are perfect to grab as you’re rushing out the door for early morning shopping on Friday, but are yummy any time of day. We also have our White Trash mix. Set out a bowl for guests to snack on while they’re waiting for the turkey to cook, or put out a bowl during the football game. It also travels well in the car if you’re going away this weekend. Thank you to all the wonderful supporters of Local Bounty. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
