Albert “Mike” Burris Jr., age 90, of Coshocton, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 18, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born October 18, 1934, in West Bedford, Ohio to the late Albert “Mike” and Judith (Hughes) Burris, the first of nine children.
He married Karen Joan Kaser in July 1960. Mike and Karen had three daughters, Kareen (Jerry) Funk of Warsaw, Jodie (Mike) Wheeler of Newark, and Nola Burris of New Albany; five grandchildren, Stephanie Burris, Kristal Funk, Michael (Audra) Wheeler, Gabrielle Burris, and McKenzie (John) Harden; five great-grandchildren, Kennedi (Dakotah) McClain, Gavin Mangus, Averi Wheeler, Easton Wheeler and Emma Harden; one great-great grandchild, Palmer McClain; a sister, Renee (John) Vanaman; and two brothers, Jerry and Rick (Debbie) Burris.
He was very active in his faith serving as a youth leader along with Karen, teaching Sunday school, bible school and after school program. He also faithfully had an early morning prayer for his grandchildren before they started their day.
He regularly attended the grandchildren’s activities – swim meets, football, basketball, baseball, softball, school plays, volleyball and gymnastic meets where he could be found wearing his “favorite” hat.
He loved beagle dogs and had many “favorites” through the years. He enjoyed spending time training dogs and time spent at the Coshocton County Sportsman’s Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Karen (Kaser) Burris, maternal grandmother Fern Frye, four sisters Rita Hill, Jean Shaw, Joanne Burris and Sandy Kreis and brother Gary Burris.
A private graveside service for the family was held at Valley View Cemetery, with Larry Miller officiating. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw handled the arrangements. FischerFuneralHome.com
