Frederick Charles “Fritzie” Metz

Frederick Charles “Fritzie” Metz, 87, died Friday, May 16, 2025 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.

He was born May 11, 1938 in Coshocton to the late Frederick James and Ireta Mildred (Spear) Metz. He was a 1956 graduate of Coshocton High School, served in the U.S. Navy, and attended Ohio University studying stationary engineering.

Fred married Judy (Fisher) Metz on Sept. 11, 1964, who preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2016. He worked at the former Stone Container in Coshocton for over 40 years, until his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a former member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post #36 in Coshocton, and a former member of Elks Lodge #376, and the Coshocton Co. Sportsmen Association. He enjoyed yearly fishing trips to Perry Sound, Canada with his family and his fishing buddies, and he also enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his son, Kevin (Jovie) Metz of Warsaw; granddaughters, Kayla Ann (Jarod) Kaufman, and Kylee Joy (Kaleb) Bauman; great-grandchildren, Lewis and Eleanor Kaufman; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Dave) Glazier, and Janice Stotler (Mike Foughty); two nieces, Jamie (Brian) Six, and Lindsey (Ryan) Forbes; special great-nieces & nephews, Baylor Forbes, Jex, & Isla Forbes, and Brayden Six; and cousins, Cindy (David) Hinton, Cathy (Rick) Haynes, and Joey Spear.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son and twin to Kevin, Craig James Metz.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Rev. Deb Quillen officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Coshocton Co. Veterans Honor Guard.
