Laurene Annette (McBride) Glover
Laurene Annette (McBride) Glover, age 72, of Kileen, Texas passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. She was born June 11, 1953, to the late Glenn and Avanelle (Foster) McBride in Coshocton, Ohio.
She was a 1971 graduate of River View High School. That same year, she began attending David Lipscomb University, and eventually earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech. After earning her Bachelor degree in 1975, Laurene went on to attend Tennessee State University, and in 1982, she obtained her Master of Education. Additionally, she received her Gifted Certification from Georgia State and her Technical and Professional Writing Certification from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Laurene was an English Teacher for over 43 years. Beginning in 1975, she taught 9th-12th grade English Drama at Fred J. Page High School and 9th-12th grade English and Computer Studies at Lafayette High School. In 1984, she began teaching 7th-8th grade English at Opelika Middle School. Between 1987 and 1991, Laurene taught in Stockbridge, Georgia. In 1993, she began teaching at Cy-Fair High School, and in 1994, she began her work for the Killeen Independent School District. Between 1994 and 2003, Laurene worked at Manor Middle School as a Tag Coordinator and 7th-8th grade English Teacher, and from 2004 to 2019, she taught 9th-12th grade English at Ellison High School.
Laurene will always be remembered as someone who adored teaching, in and out of the classroom. This included guiding her grandchild, Briley, in baking and sharing the joy of reading together. She cherished literature, travel, and the friendships that became her second family. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Laurene is survived by her sons, Brian (Julie) Glover of Texas and William Glover of Texas; her grandchild, Briley; her sister, Gaylene (John) Scott of Walhonding, Ohio; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11:00 am at South Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Lloyd Tenney officiating. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home in Coshocton, Ohio is serving the family.
Flowers were a source of joy and peace for Laurene. In keeping with her love of blooms, the family invites loved ones to send flowers to the funeral home as a tribute to her memory.
