Multiple departments involved in motorcycle pursuit
On June 3, at approximately 6:20 p.m. a deputy was on patrol in the area of US 36 and CR 10 when he observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed.
The deputy turned around and followed the motorcycle to US 36 and SR 93. The motorcycle made a right hand turn, traveling southbound on SR 93. The deputy observed the motorcycle pass numerous vehicles by going around them on the double yellow line. The deputy activated emergency lights and sirens, the motorcycle then began to flee. The deputy began a pursuit with the motorcycle, entering into West Lafayette on North Kirk Street. The motorcycle ran the stop sign at Main Street and Kirk where a West Lafayette Police Officer was able to join in the pursuit. The motorcycle turned left onto East Main Street going eastbound. The motorcycle turned right onto SR 93 continuing southbound. The motorcycle stayed on SR 93 reaching speeds greater than 110 MPH.
The motorcycle went through Plainfield before continuing onto SR 541 and into Guernsey County. The motorcycle continued on SR 541 reaching speeds into the 100s as it was entering into Kimbolton. The motorcycle made a right hand turn, traveling southbound on I-77. After getting onto I-77, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the pursuit. The motorcycle continued southbound on I-77 reaching speeds greater than 125 MPH. The pursuit was handed off to Guernsey and OSP on I-77 near SR 40. Guernsey and OSP continued on I-77 and lost sight of the motorcycle as it entered into Noble County where the Noble County Sheriff’s Office was waiting to assist.
After an investigation, the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old Tristan Gallagher-Bufkin. This incident is being reviewed by the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
