Windsorwood Place hosted a tea party in honor of all mothers on May 9 for its tenants, families and friends.

Kelbie Cameron the activity director at Windsorwood said, “We have a guest speaker Judy Elliot who is going to do a short little service with them and then we are just going to mingle. We thought, why not invite the families and friends to come and join us this year. We expected over 80 guests to attend and we all are super excited. This is the first time we have invited people, usually it’s just been our tenants which are about 35 women.”

Elliot read some entertaining short stories about mothers, the many useful purposes for a mother’s apron and the origin of Mother’s Day.” It originated with Anna Jarvis who wanted to honor her own mother after she died in1905,” Elliot said. “She went on a campaign to establish a national holiday for mothers. In 1914 president Woodrow Wilson signed a bill that the second Sunday in the month of May would be Mother’s Day. The most important thing we can give to our mothers is what we are doing today and that is giving our time.”

There were raffle tickets at each table, door prizes from Premier Home Health, and Caricatures by Greg was there to draw pictures of tenants, family members and guests.
