Donald J. Chaney

Donald J. Chaney, 81, formerly of Coshocton, went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 18, 2018. Born October 16, 1937, in Coshocton, he was a son of the late Perry Orlando and I. Irene (Moore) Chaney. He served as a Gunner’s mate in the U.S. Navy and he also served in the 101 Airborne Division of the U.S. Army.  He was awarded a Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam. Donald was employed for 20 years as a maintenance supervisor at Coshocton City Hall.  He worked under former Mayors’ Turner, Haines and Moody and he retired in 2000. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Coshocton Moose and Eagles Lodges, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2040. Donald enjoyed playing golf and loved the companionship of his dogs.  On November 8, 1959, he married Adelaide Orefice “Della” Chaney in Naples, Italy. They were married 56 years before she preceded him in death on November 19, 2015. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Hughes and Roma (Tim) Vance of Coshocton.  In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, his twin Ronald J. Chaney, Russell L. Chaney, Robert M. Fulks and Edward S. Fulks; one sister Donna I. Chaney.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Coshocton, Ohio with Father Victor Wesolowski officiating.  Entombment will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Military services will be conducted by the Coshocton County Military Council. Calling hours will be held from 5-7 P.M. Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the Free Funeral Home in Coshocton.  Donations may be made in Donald’s honor to either The Coshocton Foundation (The Chaney Golf Memorial) P.O.
