Local Bounty update

| February 7, 2017

Yet again, warm weather in the middle of winter. That’s why I love OHIO!

Speaking of Ohio, we have another new Ohio made product……This hand-made product is out of Toledo,Ohio. Pita Krunch uses the finest natural ingredients in its wholesome product, such as the unbleached non-bromated wheat flower that is free from any chemical treatment and retains many of its nutrients, and the trans fat rice bran oil that is truly “the world’s healthiest” edible oil, containing an incredible source of vitamins, minerals and amino acids, essential fatty acids, multiple antioxidants in nutrients. It’s not just delicate and flavorful, it’s extremely light versatile and much more. ( Words of the creators)

Stop in to try,  before you buy.

March class is in the works! We will have more details next week.

Have a happy week!

Strawberry Hill Farm

Today we’re bringing sliced oatmeal bread, chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, and strawberry thumbprint cookies to the store. We use organic oats, Hartzler’s butter, and our own eggs fresh from the hens. And the strawberry jam in the thumbprint cookies is made with our own organic strawberries. Jars of our strawberry jam have been restocked at Local Bounty, and we have plenty of eggs in the cooler.

Flying Pig Farm

Warm weather is here for the week once again. I can’t get used to it! Grilling out usually helps me cope with the impending likely hood of another cold snap. 🙂 Pick up some of our grass fed beef or chicken for the grill or campfire. Try our Spiced Almond Plum Jam as a great marinade or glaze for the chicken. It’s sweet with a spicy note. It would be great with pork too!

Mullet Apiaries

Here’s a fun fact for coffee lovers who also love honey: bees love the “buzz” of caffeine. Scientists have found that some plants, like the coffee plant (Coffea), use caffeine to manipulate the memory of bees. The nectar in their flowers holds low levels of caffeine that pollinators find highly rewarding and keep them returning. Here’s an article with more detail from NG: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2013/03/130308-bees-caffeine-animal-behavior-science/. Wow, just like we like to come back for that second cup of java, or even third during the day.  We would love for you to keep coming back for our bees’ delicious honey as well! We appreciate our customers each and every one!

Bob’s Pickle Patch/ Verda’s Hens

This week we will have eggs, of course; sour dough bread, small pies, and black bean brownies.  These will be at the market on Thursday.

Thanks for shopping at Local Bounty.
