Fresno Farmer’s Market is underway for the season

| May 6, 2013

005FRESNO – Fresno Farmer’s Market is now open for the season from 8 a.m. – noon every Saturday through October at Mark McCoy’s Auto in downtown Fresno.

“It’s like a big family reunion this morning,” said Julia Brown of the Fresno Farmer’s Market. “We haven’t seen each other in a while.”

This early in the spring, there is asparagus available, rhubarb, green onions, eggs, noodles, baked goods, herbal salves, teas, lotions, and flowers. By June, more produce should become available. The Fresno United Methodist Church also has an eat stand for a donation with all money going toward Martha’s Cupboard.

No sign-up or contracts are needed to become a vendor at the Fresno Farmer’s Market. Simply show up on Saturday morning with your goods and pay by donation only.

The farmer’s market also has a wheelchair for those who cannot walk through the market. Or, simply drive thru the market and someone will help you with your purchases. Restrooms are also available inside of Mark McCoy’s Auto.

“I like good food and the healthiness of the produce,” said McCoy. “I’m kind of a health nut.”

The Fresno Farmer’s Market has been at McCoy’s Auto for three years. For more information, contact Mark McCoy at 545-0997 or Julia Brown at 545-0849.
