John D. Darr

COSHOCTON – John Daniel Darr, 88, passed away on Tuesday June 19, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in West Carlisle on January 4, 1930 to Perry A. and Alta E (Mencer) Darr. He was a graduate of 1949 Warsaw High School Pirates class, and then served in the U.S. Army CO A 503d MP Battalion from 1951 to 1953. He was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. On July 7, 1958, he married Margaret Ann Carpenter. He worked for CLOW, and was a member of the American Legion.

John loved his grandkids and great grandkids, especially watching them play sports. He enjoyed watching professional basketball and baseball, and was a former ball player himself with the Walhonding Baseball Team.  He also enjoyed hunting with his Foxhounds, Bass fishing the Walhonding River, golfing, and riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, his daughter, Cindy A. (Terry) Moore of West Lafayette, his son, Rick L. (Mary) Darr of Delaware, his sister, Paula Cooper of Coshocton, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friends; Larry and Hazel McCormick, and Brenda Meade.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Clarence W., Harvey E., and Rolland H. Darr, sisters; Florence Funk, Donna Hedrick, and Sarah McCombs, and an infant granddaughter, Rachel Ann Moore.

Visitation will be held from 5-6:30 on Thursday, June 21 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw. A funeral service will follow, with Pastor Bill Jones officiating, and military honors from the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard.
