Grandmason’s Free Range Poultry.

I would like to thank everyone that purchased turkey products in 2016. Unfortunately, I did run out of product  a couple of times, but learned how to better time my production to avoid it happening again, unless, of course, there is an increase in demand, a problem I would love to have to deal with. I do have a good supply of ground turkey; wings and drumsticks to carry to the next production lot of birds in the spring. I also have three 20 pound bags of backs. These would be ideal for making stock. Someone who made stock from backs from an earlier lot of turkeys told me that there was a large amount of meat on the backs that could be strained out or left in the stock. If anyone is interested, just let someone at the store know, and they will get in touch with me. I have been asking $10 per bag, about $0.50/lb. Again, thank you everyone for a good first full year. And all have a wonderful 2017.

Mullet Apiaries

Bees have the ability to make complex calculations on distances traveled and foraging efficiency and communicate it to their hive mates (the “waggle” dance); they have the capacity to remember faces and odors, and yet their brain weighs only 1/1000 of a gram. And we can’t remember where we put our glasses! The honey they produce is delicious to eat and purported to have some healing properties when applied topically. They are certainly interesting creatures. Come on in this week and try some of our locally-produced honey. Have you seen our beautiful glass muth jars? They make nice gifts. Thank you for your business.

Bob’s Pickle Patch/ Verda’s Hens

There are plenty of eggs from our hens at Local Bounty today. Just be safe driving. Except for taking fresh water to the chickens, we are staying in! It’s really nice to have warmer weather, though.

On Thursday, weather permitting, I’ll bring in some more small pies, probably some blueberry and some Shoo-fly pies.

Thanks for shopping at Local Bounty.
