Clarence W. Haines, Jr.

CANAL LEWISVILLE – Clarence W. Haines, Jr., 77, of Canal Lewisville passed away at Autumn Health Care in Coshocton on Sunday December 9, 2012.

Junior was born in Coshocton County on June 9, 1935 to the late Clarence and Inez (Ralston) Haines. He attended Coshocton High School through 1952, and then enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving four years.  After separating from the military, he was employed at various companies including General Electric, O’Neil’s and ultimately retired after 18 years with Columbus and Southern Electric Company at the Conesville Power Plant.

Junior was a dedicated firefighter and friend of the community serving 12 years with the North and South Tuscarawas Volunteer Fire Departments, retiring as the Fire Chief in 1990.

On October 20, 1956, he married Carrie Ellen Longaberger, who survives.

On February 10, 1973, he married M. Anna Walker who preceded him in death.

His long time companion, Judy Hagans of Coshocton who accompanied him through life’s ups and downs during the final years of his life also survives.

He is survived by two sons, Jeffery A. (Jodi) Haines and John C. (Debra) Haines both of Coshocton; one daughter, Julie K. (Robert) Niswonger of Virginia; a sister, Ramona Grossenbaugh of Coshocton; and a half-sister, Naomi “Sue” (Doug) Caton of Coshocton.  Also surviving are stepchildren James D. Walker, of Newcomerstown, Tammy R. Fender and Kimberly R. Wright, both of Coshocton and Edward R. (Traci) Walker of Tennessee.  Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny Haines, Carl Haines and Robert Haines.

Calling hours will be held at Free Funeral Home, 788 South Second Street, Coshocton, OH on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.  Funeral services will be held at Free Funeral Home on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. with Evangelist Ron Davis officiating.  Interment will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.  Military honors will be conducted by the Coshocton County Veterans Council.
