Leroy F. Workman
DANVILLE- Leroy Floyd Workman, 83, of E. Main St., died Monday Jan. 13, 2014 at the Palliative Care Unit of Knox Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
He was born March 16, 1930 in Knox Co. to the late Charles and Theresa (Rice) Workman. He was a 1948 graduate of Danville High School, and he served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He was a carpenter and along with his brothers he constructed many homes in the Knox Co. area. He loved Ohio State football and basketball, and Danville Blue Devils athletics. He attended the Gay St. United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church, the Danville American Legion Post #650, the Freemasons, and the Ohio Eastern Star.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nina L. (Marchal) Workman of Danville, whom he married June 19, 1960, a daughter, Karen Workman of Mt. Vernon, a brother, Blaine (Shirley) Workman of Mt. Vernon, a sister, Vickie (Roy) Wander of Westerville, two brothers-in-law; Eugene (Dorothy) Marchal and Glenn (Fran) Marchal both of Mt. Vernon, a sister-in-law, Donna Workman of Danville, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William M. “Bill” Workman, and two brothers; Lyman & Carl Workman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday Jan. 17, 2014 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Mary Murtha officiating. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery with graveside military rites performed by the Knox Co. Joint Veterans Council.
