Velma Arletta Smalley
COSHOCTON – Velma Arletta Smalley, 76, of Squarewood St., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday April 19, 2013 at Lafayette Pointe Care Center in West Lafayette.
She was born April 23, 1936 in Coshocton to the late Dewey and Nannie (Addleman) Davis. She was a 1954 graduate of Coshocton High School, and a long-time member of Gospel Hill Ministry. She was a homemaker, and loving mother and caregiver to her disabled daughter for over 49 years. She enjoyed attending church activities, singing and gospel music. She loved flowers and gardening, and her cat, Ziva.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Smalley of Coshocton, whom she married March 3, 1956. Also surviving is a daughter, Vicki (John) Swails, and a son, Rob Smalley, both of Coshocton, three sisters; Jeanne Newton of Arizona, and Wilda Rice & Phyllis Carpenter, both of Coshocton, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana R. “Boo” Smalley, a brother, Jerry Leggett, and a sister, June Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday April 22, 2013 at Gospel Hill Ministry, 27610 TR 45 Warsaw, OH 43844, with Pastor Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Coshocton Co. Memory Gardens. Visitation is one hour prior to service time at the church.
